Dear friends and fellow Bronxville residents,

When my husband Anthony and I moved to Bronxville 3 years ago, we could never have imagined the wonderful community about to welcome us.  Since watching our oldest walk through the playground doors of her Kindergarten classroom, we have been overwhelmed by the sense of camaraderie, friendship, school spirit, and commitment to excellence that permeates throughout the School.  I am running for the Board of Education to serve this community that has given so much to my family.  I look forward to volunteering my time, energy, and professional expertise to help the School adapt to the demands of working families, support the capital project set to begin in the coming years, and guide the School into the next chapter.

Professional Skills

I am confident that I have the professional skills and insights needed to support the challenges presented to the Board.  I began my career as an insurance underwriter and have been practicing law for the past 12 years focused on insurance matters.  This experience in risk and liability assessment, due diligence, and oversight will serve me well as a Board member, especially as the Board implements the $20 million capital project focused mainly on the much-needed repairs to the Elementary School.

My practice also touches on other areas of the law including employment, commercial general liability, and litigation matters, which will provide an important – and different – perspective from those currently serving on the Board.  I believe that diversity of both thought and experience are the foundation for a successful Board.

Voice for New Generation of Parents

With young children in Elementary School (K and 3rd Grade next year), I am committed to the continued excellence of the School for the next 13+ years.    Many new families enter the School each year accustomed to the strong communications coming from their respective PreK programs.  My goal will be to strengthen communication between the Board and the community to match the expectations of the parents.  I promise to be accessible and approachable – on the playground, the sidelines of sporting events, in the auditorium, and the school pickup line.  I will strive to be visible and available for anyone to voice concerns or celebrate wins. Open communication, transparency, and approachability will help us bridge the gap that currently exists.

I will also be a vocal advocate for our working families. As Chair of my firm’s Parent & Carer Network, I listen to the needs of our parents and caregivers and collaborate to find solutions to their complex issues and help develop policies and programs to help better support them. I plan to do the same with our community here – listen, problem solve, and take action.

I am happy to be a part of this thriving community and am thrilled to have the opportunity to run for the Board of Education. I appreciate your consideration and look forward to your VOTE of confidence on May 20!

Sincerely,

Sarah Sepe
